Bronson Healthcare, Kalamazoo, Michigan | Lean Facility Planning, Ambulatory Surgery Center
Bronson Healthcare is a diverse system serving patients and families throughout southwest Michigan and northern Indiana. Bronson offers a full range of services from primary care to advanced critical care. Bronson’s stated goal is to “provide you with the right care, at the right time, in the right place.”
Bronson is locally owned and governed. With a workforce of more than 7,800, Bronson is one of the area’s largest employers. Bronson’s physicians and staff have had many exceptional achievements in quality, safety, and service.
Bronson engaged with the Adams Strategy Group (ASG) via ASG’s strategic relationship with TRO, a leading global healthcare architectural and design firm. ASG was hired to facilitate multiple day workshops with a cross-functional group of physicians, nurses, and other clinical/administrative staff to create a consensus for macro and micro adjacencies within a new building footprint. To help the group understand the project, ASG worked with the Bronson group to create a vision then develop prioritized lists of characteristics for the new space first from the patient’s perspective, then from the users’ perspective.
These lists provide vital information to “frame” the layout.
ASG then facilitated two sessions to create two alternatives each for the macro and micro adjacencies.
ASG designed and delivered a report on the process and made recommendations for further lean design decisions.
